Living in France with family originating from Wales, U.K & Poland primarily, we are a melting pot of cultures, personalities and traditions. Through this we have learnt and nurtured an understanding, tolerance and appreciation for the wide variety of people and personalities that come and share LvF Alps with us. We love to meet new people, share experiences with them and make memories.
Mitch & Ann bought La vieille Ferme in 1999 & spent 6 years slowly renovating it.
Prior to moving out to Samoens in 2006 they taught at Marlborough College, an Independent Boarding school, for 26 years; Mitch taught PE & French and Ann was a Housemistress for 16 of those years, fortunately they thoroughly enjoy looking after people.
They have travelled widely & have good friends in many countries. They are very active people. In 2009 they cycled around Tasmania and in 2011 they again cycled from North Carolina to New York.
They enjoy wine & food and Ann has a particular skill & passion for sewing & interior decorating; her talents can be seen throughout La vieille Ferme.
Lukasz & Bethan met in a small country house hotel in Sussex. Lukasz was running the 2 Rosette Fine Dining restaurant and Bethan was working part time. After working together for 3 years, they decided to combine their talents and move out to Samoens to join Mitch & Ann and start a catering company, LvF Family Cuisine.
Bethan trained in Hospitality at Oxford Brooks and has built upon her passion for food & hospitality through her work in hotels, restaurants and her love of travel and photography. Having now worked within the hospitality industry, around the world, from the bottom up, for the last 15 years, Bethan’s varied experiences allows her to bring a fresh and exciting energy to LvF Alps.
Bethan loves to cook. Her love of food was established early on and has never faltered. A developing love for photography has encouraged even more time around food as food photography is a particular area that she enjoys. Whether it be taking the photos herself or watching others taking photos and learning from them. All photos on this website are photos taken of LvF Alps products. All food photographed is LvF Alps food (except Instagram where dishes are often photographed elsewhere.)
Lukasz is a trained chef. He has worked in many establishments in and around Europe. From training at the Hilton to being awarded 2 Rosettes for his fine dining in a Sussex country hotel. Lukasz’s experiences are varied and exciting. From curries, inspired by his time/work in Malaysia, to his Fine Dining Supper Clubs, inspired by the travels/meals/wines/people/places that he & Bethan have travelled to.
Lukasz has, over the last 5 years, developed a love for and an affinity with Ultra running, a form of meditation for the mind, whilst keeping active, outside of the busy and stressful kitchen environment. Of course, the French Alps is the perfect environment to develop this love and skill, Chamonix (45 minutes away) is one of the Ultra running capitals of the world.
